IDITAROD COMES TO HAZEL
Kim Darst, the first ever New Jerseyian to enter a team into the
Iditarod, visited Hazel Avenue School’s fourth graders. The
Iditarod, an 1,100-mile dog-sled race stretching from Anchorage
to Nome, takes place each March in Alaska. Hazel’s fourth
grade classes tracked her journey on the Internet and became
extremely interested in the race, as well as Kim Darst and her
team of dogs.
All students enjoyed listening to Miss Darst’s adventureous
story and watching the magnificent pictures of her voyage.
And, of course, her lead dog Cotton was the biggest hit of
all!
