Principal's Message

Robert J. Klemt, Principal

Welcome to the home page of Liberty Middle School, home of the Liberty Lions! This web site was created to help visitors and members of the school community learn about our school and its programs.  Our dedicated and collegial staff, our state-of-the art campus, and a rigorous standards-based academic program will provide your child the continued educational experience necessary for their transition through adolescence.

Our students are “teamed” whereby teachers share common preparation and planning time in order to meet the needs of their community of learners.  Parent conferences are scheduled during this common period, period 2 for 7th graders and period 3 for 8th graders.  Since middle school is a time of growth and exploration, Liberty Middle School offers our students a full academic program that encompasses the 5 core content areas: Math, English, Reading, Science, and Social Studies.  In addition we offer French, Chinese, Spanish, or Italian in 8th grade.

Students meet with an Advisory teacher on a daily basis for Character Education lessons twice a week and are afforded extra academic support and organizational skill instruction the remainder of the school week.  We have 14 full time educators who teach our range of related arts courses such as band, orchestra, art, computer technology, life skills, and technology education.  Students are encouraged to participate in our wide range of after school programs, some of which include Student Council, Helping Hands Service Club, Totally Tech Club, and 9 interscholastic sports teams.

Parent support is critical to the growth of your children and I encourage your participation in school concerts, athletic events, and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings.  During your Liberty experience we are hopeful students grow to be critical thinkers, build relationships and sense of community, and embrace the multitude of experiences that will help to develop career and recreational choices for the years to come.

On the first day of school each student received a Student Agenda Book.  This agenda is used as a daily organizer and planner. Additionally, all school policies, rules, resources, and Code of Conduct information is contained within. We encourage you to take a few minutes to review this important information with your child.

I look forward to working with all parents and students in making sure everyone has a successful school year!
